The fine print, in large type
Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 14, 2026.
The short version: you can play everything here without creating an account, giving us your name, or handing over an email address. We designed the site so that we hold as little information about you as possible — ideally none.
What we collect directly: nothing
The Harbor Post has no accounts, no sign-up forms, and no newsletter. We never ask for, receive, or store your name, email address, or payment details. There is nothing to pay for. If you email us, we see what you send and use it only to reply.
What stays in your browser (localStorage)
Your game statistics (games played, games won, best times, streaks) and preferences (large text, sound, four-colour deck, draw mode, difficulty, layout) are saved using your browser's localStorage feature, under keys beginning with hp.. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us or anyone else. Clearing your browser's site data erases it, and that is entirely in your control.
Analytics
We may use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit and which games they play. If enabled, GA4 sets cookies and receives standard technical information such as pages viewed, approximate region, browser type, and IP address (which we configure to be anonymized). We do not use analytics to identify you personally. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, we do not load analytics at all. You can also block analytics with any common content blocker; every game works identically without it. Google's own practices are described at policies.google.com/privacy.
Advertising
The site may display a small number of clearly labelled third-party display advertisements to keep the games free. If and when advertising is active, the ad provider (such as Google) may set cookies or use similar technologies to serve and measure ads, which in some U.S. states is treated as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com and learn more at optout.aboutads.info. We never place ads inside or over the games, and we never show pop-ups.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not sell personal information, and we have no personal information of yours to sell — we do not collect names, emails, or profiles. To the extent that third-party advertising cookies constitute “sharing” under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, you may opt out in three ways: use the ad-settings links in the Advertising section above; enable the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser, which we honor where required; or email us at info@theharborpost.com with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share” and we will apply the opt-out.
Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information a business collects, to request deletion, to correct inaccuracies, to opt out of sale or sharing, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. Because we do not maintain accounts or profiles, in most cases we will have nothing on file for you; nonetheless, you may exercise any of these rights by emailing info@theharborpost.com. We will respond within the time required by law. We do not knowingly retain the personal information of any visitor beyond what is described on this page.
Children's privacy
The Harbor Post is a general-audience site intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. In keeping with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 — indeed, we do not collect personal information from anyone. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If our practices change — for example, if advertising is switched on — we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. We will never change the fundamentals quietly: no accounts, no selling your information, no dark patterns.
